Odds For Copa America 2024

In 2024, the sports betting schedule revolves around summertime football. The participation of the United States Men’s National Team ensures that interest will be at a premium in North America. Notably, Canada will also compete in this year’s tournament for the first time.

Let’s examine the odds for the Copa America tournament. Can the USMNT compete with the best South American teams? Does Canada stand a chance in their Copa America debut? How do the favourites fare, and is there a live underdog?

The tournament will take place in stadiums around the US, and every match will be broadcast on FOX, FS1, and FS2.

Underdog at Home

Team USA is the co-fifth choice to win the Copa America tournament despite being on home turf. The United States men’s squad and Colombia are listed at +1400 on FanDuel Sportsbook. That’s somewhat lower than No. 4 Mexico, at +1300, and far lower than the three leading odds: Argentina (+175), Brazil (+220), and Uruguay (+550).

If the United States national team (USMNT) happens to have an unexpected run to the championship, which is a huge if, then betting on them would be a good investment. With a $100 bet yielding $1,400 in profit, the total payoff would be $1,500.

A positive development for the United States is its incorporation into Group C. In their first match on June 23, the United States will face 85th-ranked Bolivia. Panama, ranked 45th, will be the opponent for the USMNT on June 27. This gives the US an excellent chance to have a nice start in the competition.

What Happens if the US Wins Its First Two Matches?

Assuming the United States wins both matches, which appears highly likely, the team will go on to the next round regardless of the outcome of the Group C final against Uruguay on July 1.

Christian Pulisic, a sensational forward, and captain and midfielder Tyler Adams, both 25 years old, are at the head of the American squad. They will likely need to perform at the top of their games for the US to continue advancing against tough South American competition.

How Does Canada Stack Up?

Is world-renowned player Alphonso Davies the key to unlocking Canada’s Copa America 2024 destiny? Canada will be playing in their first Copa America this summer, following their 2022 World Cup debut, but it wouldn’t make sense to put too much stock in their chances.

According to oddsmakers at the leading betting sites in Canada for 2024 Copa America, Canada is a long shot to emerge from group play unscathed. At odds of +9,900 to win and +2,900 to advance to the final, Canada likely has next to no chance.

Favored Teams

As mentioned earlier, the Copa America odds market has Argentina and Brazil as close 1-2, with Uruguay a small distance behind. Argentina is the reigning champions of the Copa America tournament, and following their 2022 World Cup victory, they are now ranked first in the world.

Argentina prevailed 1-0 in the 2021 Copa final on Brazil’s home field in Rio de Janeiro. Football sensation Lionel Messi will lead Argentina in their first match against Canada on June 20 at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Then, on June 25, Argentina will play Chile at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

In the last match of Group A, Argentina will face Peru at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, giving Messi, currently a player for Inter Miami of Major League Soccer, a homecoming. The final match will also occur at Hard Rock Stadium on July 14.

Argentina is a strong bet, mainly because Messi will be playing in his new backyard (Miami) for at least one set of matches. While many think this Brazil squad is not quite what we’ve come to expect from the football powerhouse, Brazil will still aim to ruin the fun.

Underdog Team To Watch For

When there are sixteen teams in the odds, it’s unusual to call the fourth a dark horse. However, this may be the right call because there is a massive gap between the top three clubs and everyone else.

El Tri winning the tournament would pay $1,400 from a $100 wager on Mexico. The possibility wouldn’t be shocking, although a lack of fan positivity could be a concern. Nonetheless, if you want a long shot with a reasonable chance, backing Mexico is not a bad idea.
